Frequently asked questions
-
Do I have to be home while you groom my pet?
No! Once a relationship is developed (1-2 visits), arrangements can be made to groom your pet even if you aren't home.
-
Do you groom special needs pets?
Yes, if you have a pet that is elderly, disabled, has temperament issues or is shy. Pets with special needs accepted on case-by-case basis. Pet's health is most important; grooming may end if risk to pet.
-
What if I must cancel my appointment?
Cancellations require at least 24-hour notice. Less than 24-hour notice results in $75 cancellation fee. No-show results in $75 fee per pet. Emergencies judged case-by-case.
-
What type of shampoos do you use?
All natural, plant-based shampoos with formulas for individual pet needs: Hypo-allergenic (sensitive skin), Tea Tree (medicated), and De-Shedding. Can use client's special shampoo if provided.
-
Do you groom all year long?
Yes, climate controlled van. Only exception: temperatures below 10 degrees or dangerous snow fall. Extreme cold affects water lines and is unfair to pets.
-
Where do you get the water and power to groom my pet?
Own water tank and generator. 50 gallon freshwater tank, 50 gallon grey water tank, water heater, air conditioning and heat. No need to plug into home electricity.
-
How do I maintain my dogs coat between grooms?
Brush every couple of days, making sure to get all the way to skin using a comb from skin out. Frequency depends on coat type and length. Severely matted hair requires shaving.
-
Do I need to get my dog groomed regularly?
Yes, regular grooming prevents matting, long toe nails, and other problems. Recommended 4-6 weeks for full grooms; many opt for simple bath and brush out in between.
-
Why is your pricing not online?
Different breeds, coats, conditions, temperament, and expected groom length contribute to pricing. Starting price range provided for different size animals; estimate given at booking.
-
What if my animal has fleas or ticks?
Depending on flea amount, can still groom with extra charge for van sanitization. Excessive fleas may result in service refusal until problem cleared; visit charge applies.
-
Can I stay with my pet in the van?
No, it is an insurance liability. However, happy to show vehicle before grooming pet.
-
What if my pet has mats?
Depending on condition and type, may brush out. Severe mats require shaving and starting over. Handling fee for excessive matting.
-
Do you allow more than one animal in the grooming van?
No. For safety reasons, only one pet groomed at a time due to sharp equipment and hazards. Next pet groomed once first pet's groom is complete.
-
Do you do anal glands?
No, that is a procedure that should be done by a vet. If not done correctly it can be a serious problem.
-
How Long Does the Grooming Process Take?
Complete grooming takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on size, breed, and condition of dog. Times adjusted to meet pet's needs.
-
How Do You Schedule Appointments?
Appointments scheduled first-come/first-serve via voicemail, text, email, or website. Calls not answered during grooming. Recurring appointments in advance suggested.
