Frequently asked questions
-
Does my dog or cat have to be up to date on his vaccinations?
Yes, you will need to provide a copy of your pet's rabies and distemper vaccinations, along with your veterinarian's name and phone number. This is protection for your pet.
-
How often should I get my pet groomed?
On the average, dogs should be groomed every four to six weeks, cats every 6 to 8 weeks. This depends on the owner's ability to do daily brush outs, breed, coat and how often your pet is outside.
-
Does frequent bathing harm my pet's coat?
No, veterinarians will encourage you to have your pet groomed on a regular basis. We use high quality shampoos and conditioners to help relieve dry, itchy skin.
-
My dog/cat sheds all the time, any help for that?
Yes, we can de-shed the coat during and after bathing which reduces shedding.
-
My dog/cat is really, really matted, what can you do for him?
We offer a relaxing, pain free grooming experience. If severely matted, we shave down the coat using longest length blade. It is more humane to cut down the coat and start over than to de-mat heavily matted coat.
-
My dog/cat has fleas. How do I get rid of them?
We bathe the pet using environmentally friendly flea based natural shampoo which will eradicate the fleas and help soothe skin irritations. We recommend monthly flea preventative treatment. Please check with your vet for a recommendation.
-
My dog is scared of water and hates being groomed. We can help.
As groomers, we are used to handling reluctant dogs. We use lots of pampering, TLC, and the occasional doggie treat.
-
What type of products will you use on my pet?
We use only premium shampoos and conditioners designed specifically for pets. If you prefer we use your pet shampoo, just provide us with it. We use Flea and Tick, Relaxing Lavender, Tearless, Berry, Coconut Oatmeal, Medicated, and others.
-
Do I have to be home for you to groom my pet?
We can make arrangements for grooming to be done without your presence.
-
What if the client needs to cancel their pet's appointment?
Notify us 24 hours in advance so we can fill the time slot. If less than 24 hours, call (201) 897-2280. If you do not call to cancel, a $35.00 fee will be assessed, payable prior to next appointment.
-
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept zelle, cash, checks, and credit cards (Master card, Visa, American Express, and Discover). All grooming fees must be paid at the time of service.
-
Is mobile grooming more expensive than shop grooming?
Yes, usually around $50 more per pet. You get convenience of not making 2 trips and waiting 4 hours. Your pet benefits from less stressful environment with no barking dogs, no cages, and no wait time.
-
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can book online or over the phone. Leave your name & address with zip code, dog or cat's breed and age, last time professionally groomed, special attention needs, grooming schedule preference, and type of groom/haircut desired.
-
What days and times do you offer grooming?
We offer grooming 6 days a week. We typically start booking at 7:00 AM with our last appointment of the day at 5:00 PM. If you have special needs outside these times, let our staff know and we will make every effort to accommodate you.
-
How often do nails need trimming?
Generally a dog's nails need trimming every 6 weeks.
-
Is my pet too old to be groomed?
Older pets often need special care and attention. We recommend the style be kept short and easy to maintain to keep the grooming process to a minimum amount of time.
-
What's included in a bath? Groom?
Bath: 1-3 cycles of shampoo, possibly 1 cycle of conditioner, blow-dry as tolerated by dog, brush and / or comb out. Groom includes: Everything for bathing plus full cut / style, Nails trimmed, teeth and ears cleaned.
-
How much does it cost?
All fees are based on breed, size, behavior, condition and health of coat, length and density of coat, and length of time between visits. Please visit our Pricing page to learn more.
-
Do I get the same groomer each time?
Most clients prefer to keep the same groomer. If your dog is nervous and / or you have specific requests, coming back to the same groomer works best because it fosters a relationship. If your dog is good with anyone, we have different groomers that could fit tight time slots.
-
How long does it usually take?
Bath with no trim – ½ – 1 hours. Bath and trim for large dog or dog that has a lot of hair – 1½ – 2+ hours. Matted it may take more time. Your groomer will call you just prior to or after your dog is finished.
-
What if I need my pet to stay longer than the time to groom him / her?
To minimize the stress on the dogs, we prefer they be picked up as soon after they are finished, as possible.
-
Can I bring a picture of how I want my dog styled?
Yes. The groomer will discuss your options and try to achieve the same result.
-
How is my dog dried?
We prefer hand drying all dogs with a variable speed, high velocity dryer. This allows us to get a better finished look and assess any potential health issues. If your dog does not tolerate this, we will use a warm / non-heated air circulating fan to air dry the coat.
