Frequently asked questions

  • How long does an appointment with Shampooches take?

A basic groom will take between one and two hours depending on the size and condition of your dog. Appointments are never less than an hour or more than two hours unless your dog has serious matting or needs extra TLC.

  • How often should I get my dog groomed with Shampooches?

For a healthy and happy dog, grooming should start when they are a puppy. We recommend having your dog groomed every 6-7 weeks to prevent matting. Dogs with longer hair require more frequent visits, every 4-6 weeks.

  • What is Matting and why is it dangerous to my pet?

Matting refers to densely tangled clumps of fur. A heavily matted coat can trap moisture allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow causing painful skin irritations. Removing matting can cause pain and discomfort.

  • How does Shampooches treat my heavily matted pet?

We keep the comfort of your dog first and foremost. If we feel your pet will suffer, we will recommend shaving the coat which will make your dog feel better. The coat will grow back healthier and stronger.

  • Should I have my dog's coat shaved for the summer months?

A dog's coat helps regulate heat and provides protection from the sun. Coats that are shaved off may grow back spotty or not at all. If shaved, apply sunscreen until fur grows back to prevent sunburn.

  • Can I be in the van and watch my pet while you groom?

You are welcome to look inside the grooming van during your consultation or before your pet's appointment. No one is permitted inside the van other than professional groomers during the groom.

  • Why are mobile dog grooming prices higher than a grooming salon?

Convenience! You don't have to make multiple trips to the groomer. Your dog won't be subjected to a noisy salon, hours in a crate, or many different people grooming them. We form a bond with your pooch.

  • Do I need to supply water or electricity to groom my dog when you arrive?

No. Our state-of-the-art van is 100% self-contained. We carry our own water in a 50 gal. holding tank, provide our own water heating tank, and have a generator for power. The van is climate controlled.

  • What form of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, checks and credit cards
