Frequently asked questions
-
Does my dog have to be up to date on their vaccinations?
We require your pet to be up to date on their rabies vaccine after 6 months of age. The only exception is a pet who has a letter from their veterinarian saying they cannot receive the vaccine. Bordatella and distemper vaccines are recommended, but not required.
-
How old does my dog need to be to get groomed?
We groom dogs as young as 3 months/12 weeks old. Grooming is an important part of a dog's life from a young age. A first grooming appointment typically does not include a full haircut unless the puppy adjusts exceptionally well.
-
How often should my pet be groomed?
Depending on maintenance, coat type, and style, professional grooming should be done every 2-12 weeks. Most pets do great on a 4-8 week schedule. Frequent grooming helps keep pets mentally and physically healthy.
-
Will you be able to save my dog's tangled coat?
A hands-on assessment is needed to see if the coat is salvageable. The number one priority is to keep the pet comfortable, so if de-matting would cause irritation or pain a shave down is the only humane option.
-
My dog fears one or more than one part of the grooming process. What can you do to help?
We will work with your dog to help them get over their fears using positive reinforcement with treats and praise during the groom. Nervous dogs receive plenty of verbal praise and/or petting instead.
-
Why should I get my short-coated dog professionally groomed?
Professional grooming benefits short-coated dogs by avoiding back strain, running out of hot water, dogs escaping tubs, inadequate rinsing, and cleanup. Our grooming package includes bath, nail care, ear cleaning, and more.
-
Do I have to be home for you to groom my pet?
If you keep your pet on an 8-week appointment or less and we have had at least one or two initial appointments with you home, we can set up a schedule where it is not required for you to be there.
-
What types of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Mastercard, and Visa.
-
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Please contact us as soon as possible at (586)876-0092, via text. We ask for more than 48-hours' notice so we can fill the time slot. A 50% no-show fee must be paid before your next appointment if you do not call to cancel.
-
Why does mobile grooming cost more than conventional grooming?
Mobile grooming saves two trips to a salon, provides calm environment, individual attention, no disease transmission from other dogs, and convenience of services while you work or run errands.
-
Do you need to plug into my house or use my water?
Our state-of-the-art mobile grooming salon is designed to supply its own warm water, electricity, heat, and air conditioning. Everything is self-contained so we don't need to rely on your water or power sources.
-
How long does grooming take?
Most grooming appointments are between 40 minutes and 2 hours long. After the first couple visits, we can establish a solid baseline for how long your dog will take regularly.
